The Winking Man has taken over where The Highwayman left. It's located just out side Leek and although it's no where nearly as big, there's still enough room a good night out! The DJ plays top tunes - mainly classic rock but also some newer tunes such as Ramstein, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizket etc. That is where The Highwayman was let down. I'm sure if the guy who runs this place ran The Highwayman, it would still be going to this day. It has a great & friendly atmosphere. The rock night is held on the last Friday of every month like The Highwayman use to be - I go every month.

Another top night out is Rock City in Nottingham. It's rock night every Saturday. There are 3 rooms that cater for all tastes. The main room plays modern rock such as NIN, Manson, Kid Rock and Prodigy and some not so heavy stuff. Then there's a little room that play's a lot of hard core and death metal etc, and last but not least there's the 'Rig' where you'll find classic rock where us over 30's hang out! They play the usual stuff - Bon Jovi, Winger, Motley Crue and so on. A top night I highly recommend. I go once every month or so.They also have so many big bands playing there as well, so check out their web-site!

Based in Manchester, This is the main place I go to 2 or 3 times a month. There are 4 rooms - 2 small ones, one that plays alternative and the other that plays mix of every thing? A lot of 80's music such as adam and the Ants, Sisters of Mercy, Madness, King Kurt etc but play's anything really. The main room and biggest plays Manson, NIN. Kid Rock, Disturbed, Fear Factory and so on. Finally the classic rock room were the 30 plus hang out, they play 70's/ 80's rock - Whitesnake, Poison, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Lynrd Skynrd etc.
One big oval room, Maxims has a rock night every friday, but I only go there on the first Friday of the month, as it's classic rock or R&B etc. I go for the chat, as there are plenty of 30 year old plus people who go there. The other 3 Friday nights are rock nights but more student orientated. They play everything from, Manson, NIN, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Disturbed etc - which are the nights I prefer, but my friends like the classic rock nights.

What can I say about this place? It's easily the biggest and best in my eyes, but I only can get there 3 or 4 times a year as a lot of my friends don't like it! because it based in the middle of Liverpool town centre. There's about 5 levels and 3 of them are big dance rooms. The room called K1 plays Metal, Rock and alternative, the 2nd room called K2 plays a bit of everything, Guns n Roses, The Strokes, White Stripes etc. The top floor, K3 is student and dance music area. As you can see, there's something for every one.

This is a rock pub and has a lot of bands (mainly tribute) playing there, but also have bands like Vixen, Faster Pussycat, Bullet Boys, Enuff Z'nuff . A good venue for live music as there are good views points all round the room no matter were you stand. I go, now and then - usually to see cover bands like The Bon Jovi Experience here's their website.... http://www.jonbyjovi.com/ a top band, their a must see. Also check out Dressed To Kill, a Kiss tribute band. Their website is http://www.dressed-to-kill.co.uk/
